Georgian Technical University (GTU), formerly known as the Georgian Institute of Applied Arts, is the largest technical university in Georgia and is located in the capital city, Tbilisi. Established in 1922 as the College of Applied Arts at Tbilisi State University, its first lecture was delivered by renowned Georgian mathematician Professor Andrea Razmadze. The institution became the Georgian Polytechnic Institute in 1928 and achieved full university status in 1990, cementing its position as a leading hub for technical and engineering education in the region.
